Only two schools in Iowa teach Latin? One of my biggest regrets is that I did not take it when I had the chance at Regis. Working with rare books and manuscripts, everyday I have use for it and it is my plan to take a course in the near future. I hope students continue to have the opportunity. We moved to our home because it was in the Harding, and Kennedy district. We live by Noelridge park. We are less than a mile from Kennedy High School. But now, our kids will be bused clear to the other side of town to Washington High School? We have two children in a daycare that transports the kids to the elementary school that we wanted them to attend (which is also less than a mile from our house). Now they can't go to that school if we want them to go to Harding, we will need to change their daycare and move them from their friends. This really sucks! I understand the enrollment situation and all that, but the new school boundaries are atrocious! Why on earth should we bus our kids all over town when we have the schools that we want our kids to go to basically within view of our home?! I can only hope that there will be enough of an uprising in the community that something will be done about this RIDICULOUS situation. Thanks a lot Cedar Rapids school board! I guess we will have to look at moving into another community where the school board will actually listen to what the people who elect them and pay their salaries have to say. Absolutely idiotic!! This is very critical in "consistency of reporting" The anti-bullying program I am initiating at Postville Community Schools is "Have a Heart - Making Postville Schools a Safe Teaching and Learning Environment."
